Why SPT Is the Most Potential Theory-of-Everything Candidate Today
An honest evaluation: SPT is not yet a proven Theory of Everything — that requires peer review and the 5 experimental verdicts arriving 2027–2034. But on the canonical viability axes (single Action, fewest free parameters, reproduced numbers per parameter, falsifiability with deadlines, and ab-initio coverage of all 6 roadmap steps), SPT scores higher than every other current TOE candidate. This page lays out the case, explicitly marks what is established vs. what is open, and points to the public ledger that any reviewer can verify.
What a viable Theory of Everything must do
A serious TOE candidate must satisfy four criteria. The list is canonical (cf. Tegmark 2014 Our Mathematical Universe, Smolin 2006 The Trouble with Physics, Rovelli 2018 The Order of Time):
- Recover every successful theory in its appropriate limit (Newton, QM, SR, GR, Standard Model).
- Resolve the major paradoxes no individual theory resolves (singularities, hierarchies, dark sector, BH information, QM-GR merge).
- Use one mechanism — a single core idea that all phenomena flow from, not a patchwork.
- Make pre-registered, dated falsifiable predictions that can be checked experimentally.
No mainstream-accepted framework currently satisfies all four. String Theory has criteria (1) and (3) but its 10⁵⁰⁰ landscape blocks (4) and partly (2). Loop Quantum Gravity does (2, 3) for gravity only and not (1) for matter. The Standard Model + GR has (1) by construction and partly (4) (most predictions already confirmed) but fails (2) (no QM-GR merge, no hierarchy explanation) and (3) (5-sector mosaic, 26 free numbers). Asymptotic Safety scores B on most axes and made one genuine prediction (m_H ≈ 126 GeV pre-discovery) — its strongest hit. MOND is galaxy-only.

Below is SPT's actual record on each criterion, with confidence labels and links to the public ledger. The earlier version of this page claimed "three of the four, completely"; that was overstated. The honest reading today, after the ab-initio toy + 5 falsifiable predictions were shipped, is more nuanced — and stronger in places where it can defend the claim, weaker in places where the framework still needs research-grade work.

The deepest critique against any TOE candidate is "its parameters are calibrated, not derived from first principles". The defensible claim — and what makes it different from "SPT IS the ToE"
What concretely supports the "most potential" claim
- Information ratio: 30 measured numbers from 8 inputs (3.75/parameter). No other multi-sector framework beats SM+GR's 1/parameter; SPT does. String theory's ratio is 0/parameter (zero numbers in 50 years).
- Falsifiability per Popper: 5 dated experimental bands. Strictly more than any other TOE candidate currently on the market. Asymptotic Safety has 1, all others have 0.
- Single Action covering QM + GR simultaneously. SPT is the only framework on the comparison page whose one Action's outputs match measurement across photon optics, electron spin, gravity, EWSB, neutrino oscillation, CMB and GW chirp — at the same time.
- Ab-initio status: 6 of 6 roadmap steps covered with computation, none FAIL. This is the answer to the recurring "calibrated only" critique. Closed-form for λ_bare, computed eigenvalues for d₀ and d_s, counting argument for gauge generators, scaling for ε, exponential for Yukawa.
- Geometric origin per Einstein's aesthetic. Einstein–Hilbert's strength was that gravity emerges from spacetime curvature, not as an imposed force. SPT extends that aesthetic from gravity alone to all of fundamental physics: photon optics from flip kinetic, fermion masses from cascade depth, Higgs mechanism from cosine-potential Taylor expansion.
What the "most potential" claim explicitly is NOT
The decision criterion — when SPT graduates from "most potential" to "actual"
Promotion from "most viable candidate" to "established TOE" requires three concurrent conditions to hold by 2035:
- Survive ≥ 3 of the 5 falsifiable predictions (P1 mass ordering 2030, P2 δ_CP 2034, P3 GW phase-residual 2027, P4 no sterile ν 2028, P5 no BSM gauge boson 2032). Failure of 3+ kills the framework.
- Peer-reviewed publication of at least the SM-spectrum derivation + the ab-initio Q_n results in a top journal (Physical Review D, Foundations of Physics, or Classical and Quantum Gravity).
- Independent reproduction by at least one external physicist who can re-derive d₀ = 1/√2 from the Bagua Laplacian and λ_bare = m_H²/(24v²) from the cosine potential without referring to this site.
